Relaxing Day in Brighton!

Yesterday a few of us wandered down to the southern coast of England to the beach town of Brighton. It was a last minute trip before we out to Egypt.

We woke up at 8 and left for the Train station at 9 in the morning. The train ride was about 52 minutes and when we stepped off the train I was so glad I went. We began by walking down the main street towards the ocean. As we were walking the smell of the ocean filled the air and we began to hear the seagulls. I never have been a huge fan of the beach, but for some reason I was SOOOO EXCITED! Of course there isn't any sand on the beaches here. Brighton is home to one of the most Famous pebble beaches. Which was right up my alley considering my loathing of sand. However, I came to realize that I actually MISS the sand. Which is very weird...

We relaxed and enjoyed the beach for a while and then headed down the path towards the pier. Being in a beach town, we decided that it was proper to eat fish and chips! They were really really good. Then we went on the pier which had a huge arcade and lots of rides. Unfortunately the rides only operate Saturday and Sunday so we sat on the pier and relaxed for a while. We tried to go to the Aquarium, but it was 15 pounds! which is ridiculous for the small aquarium. It became evident that this is THE place for Englanders to go when the summer season hits.

Next we found the royal pavilion, which George the IV commissioned. This structure is oddly out of place in England. The outside is sort of a mosque I guess whereas the inside is all Asian inspired. It was so pretty and amazing! After that we went to the mall. I swear we have ALL seen malls before, but for some reason we were all so happy and excited!

After that we walked back to the beach and watched the sunset. For dinner we ate at this buffet place called Gekko. I kid you not there was a dish from every ethnicity. From Curry to crepes to pasta to stir fry. We had such a great dinner.

Finally, we headed back to London to prepare for Egypt!

BY THE WAY.... I leave for EGYPT tomorrow!!! SOOOO EXCITED/ SCARED!
